About

Ken Barlow

Ken Barlow’s educational journey spans both public and private institutions, having attended schools in Japan, Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. This diverse background laid a solid foundation for his appreciation of education, culminating in his recognition as the 1986 St. Joseph County, University of Notre Dame’s “Student Athlete of the Year” in basketball. Ken graduated with a B.A. in Government and International Relations from the University of Notre Dame. With 18 years of experience as an educational administrator, Ken is now in his 14th year as the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (D.E.I.) and Community. In this role, he advocates for marginalized and unheard voices within the educational community. His efforts include enhancing cultural competencies, championing the underrepresented, and conducting diversity workshops for educators, students, and families. Additionally, Ken is the author of “First Round Pick, The Path Least Chosen.” A powerful novel that encourages the readers to be prepared, courageous and authentic in their personal pathways and career choices. Currently, Ken is with Paramount Schools of Excellence, where he focuses on strengthening cultural responsiveness in the classroom. His work is guided by a commitment to honoring and respecting the dignity of every individual, ensuring that all members of the community feel welcomed, valued, and cared for, and fostering justice for all.
